Hunting Season in Georgia

Hunting is big here in Georgia especially during this week of Fall Break.  School is out and families get together for the deer hunt.  It started Saturday and goes through Jan 15th.  Last year the limit was 10 antler-less, and 2 antlered deer.  People are always warning us to look out for deer, crossing the roads, after being flushed out of the near-by woods.

Here is one of the roads they are referring to.
It is a sample of the back roads we love- well when it is not
raining at least.  They are not as red here in Baldwin County, as they were
in Lauren County,  but the possibility of slipping off in the rain,
and being stuck forever hasn't changed.

I am actually more worried about all the hunters, who usually hunt on their own land, as do their young children.  They sometimes set up camouflaged hunting stands 8 - 10 feet high, and then wait until the deer trip across the clearing.  They are even allowed to sprinkle corn or other deer fodder to attract them.  It doesn't sound much like sport to me. Also, the prevalence of inexperienced hunters definitely nixes any thoughts one might have of lovely walks in the woods, now that the cool days of fall have arrived.

for his 12th birthday.  He also started to attend church and
was able to receive the Aronic Priesthood and pass the sacrament.
It is his Grandma who cares for him, and is currently recovering
 from  extreme Chemo reaction in the nursing home in Dublin, and his
Great Grandma (Mamarine)  is our perky 90 year old Dublin friend.

Side Notes:

This has been a great visiting week.  Doug is feeling better, and we have met some interesting new people - some with ties to Dublin families.  We have been given a new referral; have helped one of our families get set up to help a child learn to read; were able to find one of the members we have been searching for, as a captive audience - in the hospital.

Tomorrow we are scheduled to meet all morning with Elder Marcos Aidukaitis, one of the Seventy, in a mission-wide training.  Actually, they are having us come in in smaller groups, (45 or so), over a couple of days.  Our turn will switch our P-Day till Tuesday, but we kind of mix it all up anyway, so it won't matter.  We will report on this next week.

One thing we know for sure is that true happiness comes only through learning about and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The more we listen to the guidance of our modern-day prophets, study the scriptures and put our trust in our Heavenly Father and His Son, the more we feel their love and direction in our own lives, and our desire increases to do better and be better albeit in small increments.

We love you all and hope all is going well in your lives, and that you too feel a desire to draw closer to the Savior, and feel him strengthening you and helping you through individual challenges.
