A New Year - 2014!

 Missionary Action

Our lives have felt so busy over the past week - purposefully busy that is.  We have been taking advantage of Doug's better health and have tried to fill each moment.  We have had people to Sunday dinner- an investigator and her visiting friend from Denver, CO along with some new ward aquaintances.  We had such a nice time, and it was interesting to me to see the conversation turn naturally to Gospel questions and stories of how the church became a part of their lives.

We spent a delightful P-day in Dublin visiting our Nursing Home friends and of course Sister Ogburn, and Sister Harrison - both so delightful.  How nice to be like them when 85 and 91 years old!  They are so interested in life, and on top of all their affairs.

We also attended the Empty Nesters Family Home Evening.  It was held about 30 minutes away, on the Lake.  We had some new friends there, so made the effort to get back from Dublin in time to go.  Next time we will have to go in the daylight to enjoy the scenery.

Today, we set some goals with the Greene household regarding what they would like to see happen in the coming weeks to get the two children ready for baptism - one eight and the other nine years old.  We are also working with two men who are wanting to prepare for the Melchizedek Priesthood.  We are excited for that possibility for them.

This is our Zone at least until everything changed in Transfers today.

Luckily our District stayed the same.  That has never happened to us before, so I thought I'd post the picture.

We have a Zone Meeting and a Seniors Conference - our first - all next week, so we have a lot to do before then.  When we are tied up for a day or two, we really notice it and so do the people we visit.

We want to do all we can while we are here!  It has been strange to have this freezing weather down here this week.  I even wore my recess coat.  Schools were closed; water pipes froze.  Saturday  the temperatures will be back above 75 degrees, and it will seem more like Georgia!
